For Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating women who have changed the course of history. Often, women affect history just by being the first to break a glass ceiling or reach a particular goal. And, many of these women continue to make history by what they achieve in their trailblazing roles.
Although there are women in every field that deserve celebration, we’ve chosen to highlight women who have made and are making contributions in politics, science, and the arts. The Content Collection below is a good link for additional resources about women’s history.

Beyond Being First
Women often make history just by being the first woman to achieve a certain title or position, and the women in the featured media above were all trailblazers in that way. However, so many women make their most significant contributions after they’ve passed the “first-to” milestone. Have your students research the achievements of a female politician, scientist, or musician (or another trailblazing woman) and find an image of her. Then, use a combination of the instructional strategies Step Inside and 3 Truths…1 Lie to guide your students as they challenge each other to celebrate the truths and identify the lies about these women. Share your students’ most fascinating truths and the names of the women who made history on social media with #CelebrateWithDE.
